The current V50 is a 13,400 mAh, 48 Wh lithium-ion USB battery pack optimized for solar charging, pass-through charging, and low-current, long-term deployments. Its two USB-A outputs provide the Always On operation required by CamDo UpBlink and legacy BlinkX and Blink controllers.

Current-revision notice: The current V50 does not have a Micro-USB input. Older solar-panel cables that terminate in Micro-USB do not connect directly to this revision. Use a compatible 5 to 6V charging cable for the dedicated USB-C solar input or the 3.5 × 1.1 mm solar input.

  • The V50 supplies reliable external power to cameras, controllers, mobile devices, microcontrollers, and other compatible 5V USB equipment. The battery is optimized for solar charging and supports pass-through charging, allowing it to receive power while supplying power to a connected device.

For CamDo time-lapse deployments, connect the controller or camera to one of the two USB-A outputs. These outputs use the V50's updated Always On technology and do not shut off when the connected device draws little or no power.

    settings_powerAlways On USB-A Outputs

    • Two USB-A outputs provide 5V/2A each, with a maximum combined output of 3A.
    • There is no low-current cutoff on the USB-A outputs.
    • To stop output, double-tap the Power Level button or disconnect the device.
    • To resume output, press the Power Level button once.
    • The battery returns to Always On operation after discharge, over-temperature, or under-temperature events.
    • Always On power consumption is approximately 7 mA or 26 mW.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the V50 power my equipment?

Runtime depends on the camera or controller, shooting schedule, firmware, temperature, battery condition, cable losses, and whether the battery is also receiving solar power. Use the CamDo Camera Power Consumption Study and Time Lapse Calculator for project planning.

Which outputs provide Always On power?

Both USB-A outputs provide Always On operation. Use these outputs for CamDo controllers and other equipment that may draw little or no power between scheduled events.

Can the USB-C PD port be used for an Always On deployment?

No. The top USB-C PD port is not Always On compatible. Use one of the USB-A outputs when uninterrupted low-current output is required.

How should the current V50 be connected to a solar panel?

Use a compatible 5 to 6V cable connected to either the dedicated USB-C solar input or the 3.5 × 1.1 mm solar input. Confirm the panel voltage, connector, and polarity before connecting it.

Can an older Micro-USB solar cable be connected directly?

No. The current V50 does not have a Micro-USB input. Use a tested cable designed for one of the current V50 solar inputs.

Does the V50 support pass-through charging?

Yes. The V50 can receive charging power while supplying power to a connected device.
